A New Vision: Creative Discipleship for Creative Disciples

Refreshed vision, refreshed brand.

Creative discipleship for creative disciples. That’s our new vision.

Last year we hit our tenth year anniversary, and a lot has changed since 2009: the organization’s structure, focus, and most importantly, our vision. We thought it was time to communicate these changes to all of you and for starters, we began with our brand.

“Discipling creatives” has always been at the heart of what Humble Beast does, but there were times when that vision didn’t always feel clear to the outside world. Rather than rebranding or completely revamping the entire organization, we sought to bring Humble Beast’s mission into sharp focus.

Our new wordmark is clearer, just like our new vision.

The most obvious change is that the period is gone. We cleaned up Humble Beast’s wordmark by increasing the space between each letter to make it more legible.

“Records” is Gone

For the last 10 years our audience has referred to us as Humble Beast Records, and though we still produce records we produce more than records. In the next 10 years we want to create as many different creative expressions and resources to express the beauty of our triune God for the good of his people.

Look at it this way, when you visit a museum, you admire and learn from the curated pieces the museum puts on display in order to celebrate both the art and the artist. A metaphorical museum, we realized, is what Humble Beast should be. Moving forward, Humble Beast will equip and celebrate God’s beauty by first, creating our own original content and secondly, by putting together a curated list of “makers” who are excellent in their craft (their worship) and are strongly committed to biblical theology.

Our brand moves differently.

Ordinary Folk, a motion design studio in Vancouver, BC was gracious to help us come up with the right new video bumper to reflect our new vision.

Inspired by the museum metaphor, the resulting piece uses moving lines to depict a frame, visually echoing the frames which contain the paintings in a museum.

What does this mean for you?

As we move forward with this new vision we’re very excited and have lots of ideas and projects we want to work. But, we can’t do this without your help. Please help us fulfill our mission by donating today.
