Westerholm serves as Associate Professor of Church Music and Worship at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
Prior to this, he served as Assistant Professor of Music and Worship at Bethlehem College & Seminary and Pastor for Music and Worship at Bethlehem Baptist Church, downtown campus (2014–2019), and various pastoral and teaching roles in Illinois and Michigan. Dr. Westerholm’s dissertation examined the eschatological views within contemporary worship music.
He has written congregational songs and articles on worship for the DesiringGod, Gospel Coalition, and Doxology & Theology websites. Matthew is comfortable behind a piano but only feels at home with his wife, Lisa, and their three sons.
